About
Three decades of evolution. One commitment to visibility.
Digital Waves has worked in large-format advertising and brand execution since 1994. We design, print, fabricate and install — hoardings, signage, retail branding, event builds and on-site execution — so the people who draw it and the crew who mount it answer to the same standard.
How it started
Digital Waves started in 1994 in Madurai, on a simple conviction: a brand that cannot be seen does not exist.
We run design, printing, fabrication and installation together. That means no gap between the person who draws it and the crew who bolts it to a structure above a highway.
We work for the corner store and the national brand with the same crew, the same steel and the same standard.
The name Digital Waves reflected a new era in advertising. At a time when flex printing and digital colour design were still unfamiliar to many customers, the company embraced the change and helped bring modern advertising methods to the market.
What changed, and when
- 1994
The beginning
Established in Madurai, when advertising depended on skilled hands, paintbrushes and field execution. Hand-painted wall advertisements, wall-mounted signboards and banners for local shops, functions and growing businesses.
- 2000
Flex printing
The change the company was named for. Printed output replaced the brush for large formats, and colour became something you specified rather than mixed.
- 2005
Digital printing and outdoor
Digital printing brought photographic detail to large surfaces, and the company moved outdoors onto hoardings — from supplying artwork to owning the structure it hangs on.
- 2010
ACP work and fabrication
Metal, cladding and formed letters. The work stopped being something printed and became something built, installed and maintained.
- 2015
LED signage
Signage stopped being static. Illuminated and digital displays brought motion, scheduling and night visibility to the same sites.
- 2023
AI-assisted design
The newest tool in a thirty-year sequence of them. It changes how quickly ideas are explored — not who is accountable for the result.
Leadership
Jothivel Subramaniyan
Founder
Jothivel Subramaniyan founded Digital Waves in Madurai in 1994. Beginning in an era shaped by hand-painted advertising, signboards and banners, he established the practical foundation, work ethic and customer relationships that allowed the company to grow through successive changes in the advertising industry.
Akilan Jothivel
Managing Director
Akilan Jothivel's leadership was built in the field. From painting and production to installation and project execution, he learned the business by doing the work himself. Rather than leading from a distance, he has consistently worked alongside his team and helped Digital Waves evolve from traditional advertising methods into a modern, technology-enabled company.
Technology and craft
Digital Waves uses AI as a creative and production-support tool — not as a replacement for experience. AI helps our team explore ideas, develop mockups, adapt artwork and visualise possibilities more quickly. Every final design is reviewed, refined and approved by a human designer before production.
The intelligence of AI. The effort of people. One complete result.
